As a Recruitment Agency, it’s likely that you’ll need to complete DBS checks on your candidates to ensure they are suitable for the position. We understand that as someone who is doing DBS checks for employers, you need results quickly to ensure potential candidates don’t miss out on opportunities, and your clients get the quality staff they need. This is why we ensure all DBS applications sent to us before 4pm are processed the same day.
Whether you’re looking for criminal record checks for full-time or temporary positions, our online DBS system will help you to do it with ease, and get results back quicker than ever before.
What Level Of DBS Checks Can Recruitment Agencies Request?
Depending on the roles you’re hiring for as a recruitment team will depend on what level of DBS check you’ll need to get for your candidates!
Whether you’re hiring a cleaner, bank manager, builder, or something completely different, you’ll be able to get one of the following DBS checks below:
Basic DBS Check
Basic DBS Checks can be requested on anyone, with the permission of the candidate. As the name suggests, this gives a “basic” overview on the individuals criminal history, only showing unspent convictions.
Examples of Roles Include:
Call Centre Worker
Courier
Builder
Lorry Driver
Secretary
Standard DBS Check
Standard DBS checks are requested by recruiters for positions that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1074 Exceptions Order 1975. This contains both spent and unspent convictions.
Examples of Roles Include:
Accountant
Bank Manager
Bouncer
Lawyer/Solicitor
Security Guard
Enhanced DBS Check
(With Or Without Barred List)
This high level can only be requested for positions in certain instances. If working with vulnerable adults/children, a Barred List Check may also be needed.
Examples of Roles Include*:
Dentist
Healthcare Worker
Pharmaceutical Chemist
Teacher
Taxi Driver
*As every role can contain different activities, some regulated, and some not, it can be possible for two different people doing the same role to require a different level of check.
For example, if one cleaner will be regularly unsupervised around children, and another not, then only the first would need an Enhanced With Barred List check. If you are ever unsure on which type of DBS check is required, please use our Eligibility guide, or give us a call on +44 113 877 0171.
